PROCESS AUTOMATION

System Integration

Aztec Consulting believes in the maxim:

Automation for the sake of automation does not provide optimum user value

The end product of a successful automation project should be to make the operation of the production process easier. Our engineers always strive to consider all points of view - operation, troubleshooting, data analysis and reporting - while designing and implementing process automation systems. Maximizing user value is the main focus in our approach to instrumenting and automating a process or a plant.

This philosophy has enabled Aztec engineers to automate and integrate plants successfully in industries such as:

  • Pharmaceutical
  • Biotechnology
  • Petrochemical
  • Chemical
  • Refining
  • Wastewater
  • We have designed, implemented, commissioned and started-up continuous and batch plants ranging from a
    100 to 20,000 I/O points.

Our engineers have expertise with a multitude of process automation systems including:

Distributed Control Systems Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Emerson Delta V
  • Emerson Provox
  • Foxboro I/A
  • Siemens APACS
  • Honeywell TDC 2000/3000

  • Allen Bradley
  • Modicon
  • Siemens
  • SCADA Building Management Systems
  • Intellution Fix
  • Wonderware Inbatch
  • Siemens Apogee
  • Honeywell
  • Andover
  • Integration Methodology

We have applied project lifecycle methodologies such as:

  • GAMP
  • S-88
  • PMA Lifecycle
  • to our automation projects. Our adherence to structured software development methodologies enables us to produce high quality, documented software that is easy to maintain and support. Our engineers follow a documented software development practice that means that the software produced by one engineer is the same as another Aztec engineer. This makes software maintenance easy at a later date. For example, interlocks are programmed and implemented the same way by every Aztec engineer.

    Project Resources

We differentiate ourselves from our competitors in that we staff our projects with resources who are engineers not software developers. Aztec engineers understand chemical engineering principles (like heat and material balances) and can apply them to their work. The client does not have to assign resources to explain basic engineering principles that are needed to produce a superior quality automation system.

Aztec Consulting staff is degreed Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical engineers with over 70 years of process automation and instrumentation experience.

    Project Execution

Aztec Consulting offers our clients the ability to implement using a documented project methodology. This enables us to execute high quality at a faster pace than any of our competitors.  Our project execution phase typically follows the following lifecycle:

  • Requirements Gathering
  • Conceptual Design
  • Prototyping
  • Detailed Design
  • Software Development
  • Simulation & Testing
  • Site Acceptance Testing
  • Commissioning
  • Startup
  • Training
  • Ongoing Support
  • We can assure our clients of high quality systems and products because we take advantage of sophisticated testing tools that are widely available in the market. This level of testing is implemented on every project and assures our clients that the product is relatively bug-free when it is delivered for client commissioning and startup.

    Instrumentation Experience

Aztec engineers have experience with a variety of instrumentation including standard as well as bus based instruments. Expertise includes installing and configuring instruments on:

  • Foundation Fieldbus
  • Profibus
  • Asi bus
  • DeviceNet
  • Data Archiving and Reporting

Aztec engineers have experience designing and implementing reports using a variety of tools including:

  • Crystal Reports
  • Cognos
